AviFeed Guard Value Assessment

AviFeed Guard Farm Value Calculator

Estimate the measurable cost of bird pressure around dairy feed areas and see how quickly an AviFeed Guard investment could pay back.

1. Farm details

Start with the herd size and a practical estimate of how serious the bird problem is.
Choose the level that best matches what is normally seen around feed during the problem period.
LowSmall numbers seen occasionally. Limited feeding activity and little obvious contamination.
ModerateBirds are present most days and regularly feed around the ration or feed store.
HighLarge groups feed daily, with clear feed disturbance, fouling or repeated bird activity.
SevereVery large or persistent flocks with heavy daily feeding and obvious contamination or feed loss.
The feed-loss estimate uses published research including a benchmark of 44.43 g of TMR (Total Mixed Ration) consumed per bird per day. Results are indicative only and are not a guarantee of actual farm losses or savings.

2. Other measurable costs

Only include costs the customer can reasonably estimate today.
Health effects, contamination risk, veterinary impact and milk production effects are important, but they are not converted into money in this calculator.

3. Estimated annual bird cost today

A simple view of the measurable annual cost of the current bird problem.
Estimated birds affected0
Estimated TMR consumed0
Direct feed consumption0
Research-based dairy feed-loss estimate0
Planning annual cost0
For planning, the calculator uses the higher of the direct-consumption estimate and the published dairy-operator feed-loss benchmark. They are not added together, which avoids double counting. Labour and current bird-control spend are then added separately. View the published dairy study.

4. Potential measurable value

These are example reduction scenarios for illustration only. The payback calculation uses the 60% planning scenario.

Practical testing showed around 75-80% deterrence; iCHASE reports 79% reduction in bird activity.

What the calculation includes

Payback uses a broader research-based feed-impact estimate, plus labour and current bird-control spend. Health, veterinary costs and milk-production effects are still not assigned a financial value.

6. Estimated payback

Simple payback
Enter the farm and quote details above.
Initial investment0
Estimated annual saving after subscription0
Estimated 5-year net benefit0
Conservative payback - 40%If 40% of measurable annual bird cost is recovered.
Planning payback - 60%Current planning basis.
Tested-rate payback - 80%Approximately aligned with practical testing showing around 75-80% deterrence.
Simple payback = initial investment ÷ estimated annual saving after subscription. Three scenarios are shown so the customer can see the range.

Additional benefits not included in the ROI

Feed hygiene

Less bird activity around exposed feed and feeding areas can improve feed cleanliness.

Biosecurity

Reduced exposure of feed areas to bird excrement and associated contamination risk.

Ration consistency

Birds can selectively consume higher-value parts of the ration, affecting consistency at the feed face.

TMR = Total Mixed Ration. The calculator uses research values as planning inputs; it does not predict the exact loss or saving that any individual farm will achieve.
This calculator is an indicative planning tool based on published research, user-entered farm data and modelling assumptions. Actual bird pressure, feed losses, labour savings and AviFeed Guard performance will vary by farm, installation and operating conditions. The results are not guaranteed and should not be treated as a guaranteed financial return.

Planning basis: the payback result uses the 60% planning scenario. Feed impact uses the higher of a direct feed-consumption estimate and a published dairy feed-loss benchmark, to avoid double counting.
Indicative sales assessment only. Results depend on farm inputs and the bird reduction achieved in practice. Health, veterinary costs and milk-production effects are not assigned a financial value.
